Representing the beginning of the trend to green luxury rental apartments, The Epic achieved LEED Gold status through prudent planning and design. It is the first building erected by the Durst Fetner Residential team and proves that sustainable construction can be efficient, cost effective, and quite successful.
The Epic’s environmentally friendly features include:
- Recycled, locally manufactured, and sustainably harvested building materials
- Comprehensive construction and demolition waste management plan including recycling and material mitigation
- Rooftop gardens to dissipate heat and minimize rainwater runoff
- Storm water reclamation system
- Motion sensors in stairways and corridors to conserve electricity
- Green cleaning materials used throughout the building
- Building-wide water and air filtration
- Apartments feature EnergyStar appliances, efficient lighting, individual-room programmable thermostats, floor-to-ceiling low-e windows, and water-conserving fixtures
