Clune Construction Relocating New York Headquarters to The Durst Organization's 655 Third Avenue

New York, NY – March 25, 2024 –The Durst Organization announced today that Clune Construction is moving the national general contractor’s New York City headquarters to 655 Third Avenue, taking the entire 10th floor. 655 Third Avenue has seen exceptional leasing momentum over the past year. With Clune’s new 23,437-square-foot lease and Empire State Development moving the agency’s headquarters into 117,000 square feet in the building, 655 Third Avenue has gone from 52% leased in 2022 to 85% leased today.

“Well-maintained office buildings with excellent access to public transit continue to attract top-tier tenants,” said Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization. “We are pleased to welcome Clune Construction to 655 Third Avenue.”

“The relocation of Clune Construction’s New York office to 655 Third Avenue marks a significant milestone in our growth in the region,” said Sean Clune, President of Clune Construction’s New York Region. “Our strategic move to this premier office building signifies not only our dedication to providing top-tier services to our clients, but also our commitment to expanding our presence in the dynamic landscape of New York City.”

The Durst Organization was represented in-house by Tom Bow, Ashlea Aaron, and Bailey Caliban. Clune was represented by John Mambrino and Nicholas Farmakis at Savills.

Located just one block from Grand Central with its new Long Island Rail Road terminal, 655 Third Avenue offers one of the most convenient commuting destinations in New York City.

655 Third Avenue is another example of the successful implementation of Durst’s portfolio-wide sustainable policies and procedures. 655 achieved LEED Gold certification in 2019 under LEED v4 Existing Buildings: Operations + Maintenance with sustainability features including green roofs and double-glazed windows that deflect glare and improve office comfort.

In addition to Empire State Development, which is moving into five floors of the building this year, tenants at 655 Third Avenue include Abacus Group and the Big East Conference.

The Durst Organization is seeing strong leasing momentum along Third Avenue due to the convenience and community the Avenue offers, and the modern, sustainable offices Durst has been maintaining and investing in for years. In February, The Durst Organization announced nearly 60,000 square feet of leases across the company’s Third Avenue portfolio.
