EDWARD KAHRER - Vice President of Security

As the Vice President of Security for The Durst Organization, Ed Kahrer oversees all aspects of building, corporate and personal security. He leads a network of over 300 security personnel and vendors who safeguard the company’s 13 million square feet of commercial office towers and 2,400 residential units as well as corporate employees, tenants and visitors. He also directs corporate investigations, executive protection and crisis response initiatives.

After 30 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigations, Ed retired in 2011 as the Assistant Special Agent in Charge and Program Manager of the agency’s white collar crime, public corruption, cybercrimes and civil rights program for the State of New Jersey.

Ed is a two time recipient of the FBI Director’s Award for Excellence, the 1996 Federal Executive Board’s Outstanding Supervisor award, the 2007 Outstanding Counterintelligence Investigation award and the 2010 Outstanding Criminal Investigation award. For 15 years, he served as an adjunct instructor for the FBI Academy at Quantico, Virginia teaching leadership to mid-level managers. Ed also served in an advisory capacity to two FBI directors.

He earned a Certificate in Accounting from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from King’s College. He is a Certified Fraud Examiner.
