Law Firm Nutter Doubles Space at 5 Grand Central East

New York, NY – August 26, 2026 – The Durst Organization today announced that full-service law firm Nutter is expanding the firm’s office at 5 Grand Central East to 11,438 square feet. Nutter will take the entire 25th floor, in addition to renewing the firm’s existing office space on the 27th floor of the building.

“The Manhattan office leasing market is surging, especially for Class A spaces in transit-accessible locations such as Grand Central East. Nutter’s decision to expand at 5 Grand Central East reflects the desirability of the area and Durst’s long-term investment in our buildings,” said Jody Durst, President of The Durst Organization.

At the end of 2025, The Durst Organization rebranded 5 Grand Central East, formerly 655 Third Avenue, and 11 Grand Central East, formerly 733 Third Avenue, to reflect Durst’s continued investment in the Grand Central submarket.

The Durst Organization is deploying $16 million in capital investments at 5 Grand Central East to bring state-of-the-art infrastructure to the building including modernizing the HVAC heating and cooling system, installing an advanced Building Management System, and a new Emergency Standby Generator System. 5 Grand Central East and 11 Grand Central East have seen $60 million in investments over the last decade.

Tenants at 5 Grand Central East, located at Third Avenue and East 42nd Street, include Clune Construction, the New York City headquarters of New York State's Empire State Development (ESD) agency, and Abacus Group. The building is certified LEED Gold with sustainability features including 4,775 square feet of green roofs and double-glazed windows that deflect glare and improve office comfort.
